Floyd Mayweather vs. Andrew Berto

Fresh off the tails of his legendary win against Manny Pacquiao, the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. has made a major announcement earlier this month: he is set to take on Andre Berto on September 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, in what he says will be his final fight.

Surprising boxing fans worldwide, the unbeaten Mayweather (48-0-26 KO) has chosen an unexpected opponent in Andre Berto in his quest to match the legendary Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record. Standing a 5ft6 ½, Haitian-American Berto (30-3-23 KO) is a two-time welterweight world champion and the current WBA Welterweight Interim Champion who will attempt to dethrone the 5’8 champion for his last rounds in the ring.

With Berto having lost the last 3 out of his 6 fights, die-hard boxing fans are questioning Mayweather’s choice of opponent in what he says will be his farewell fight. While many fans and major sports outlets are busy listing other fighters who they feel would be a better match for Mayweather, the soon-to-be retiree has been praising Andre Berto, comparing him to none other than Manny Pacquiao, so we can only hope that this will be a great send-off to the boxing great.

We can’t lie, we’re excited for Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s farewell boxing match. Will he end his career undefeated, or will Andre Berto surprise us all and overthrow a legend? The best way to find out is live, ringside at the MGM Grand.
