Chivas Brothers Pernod Ricard has unveiled the Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute – the finest whisky in its Royal Salute range. Indeed, the Royal Salute is the world’s leading luxury Scotch whisky, first created as the Ultimate Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her coronation in 1953.The work of four generations of master distillers, the blend is made from various whiskies at least 40 years old; Neil Macdonald, Brand Director for Royal Salute said: “Royal Salute is the only brand that uses whiskies aged from 21 years upwards based on the tradition of Chivas Brothers’ mastery of aged whisky. We are delighted to push the boundaries ever further with the launch of Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute, which uniquely, for a permanent blend, uses whiskies aged for a minimum of 40 years.

“Our research demonstrates a real appetite from our consumers to see this exciting innovation and only Royal Salute has the pure bred credentials to take this commanding position” added Neil Macdonald, brand director for Royal Salute and Pernod’s Chivas Brothers unit.

Meanwhile their current master blender Colin Scott said: “It has been an honor to play a role in the creation of Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute, as it represents the ultimate tribute to royalty. It is a statuesque and luxurious whisky, which could only be created by drawing on the many traditions of whisky craftsmanship that I am proud to uphold and continue today.”

Housed in a hand-crafted bottle by Dartington Crystal, it features a Royal Salute crest painted in liquid 24-carat gold as well as a 24-carat gold plated collar and a crystal stopper set with a 24-carat gold plated crown.
