Givenchy PLAY: a new fragrance for men starring Justin Timberlake

On my recent trip to Zurich Switzerland, I discovered two great men’s fragrances by Givenchy: PLAY and PLAY Intense Eau de Toilette. Both are fragrances that sparkle to emphasize their soft, embracing nature. Elegant and hedonistic, the fragrances of PLAY Eau de Toilette and Eau de Toilette Intense have a powerful presence.

Givenchy launched their fragrance for men last year in September 2008 starring celebrity star Justin Timberlake as the spokesmodel (do you like it?). The modern and contemporary perfume is presented in a very original bottle (shaped like an MP3 player, hence the name “PLAY”) designed by Serge Mansau who has already produced major creations for Dior, Hermes and Givenchy. Like a film director, Serge Mansau sees his bottles as actors, ready to play a part in the unique story of each fragrance. Press “PLAY” and escape your daily routine to surf on new sensations, emotions and experiences, revelling in this new found freedom.

My favorite of the two is PLAY Eau de Toilette. Indeed, the fragrance is nice and light, not too overpowering to be worn all day; however, people will keep asking you all day what you are wearing because the smell will last. PLAY provides a new level of sweet, candy-like yet very masculine and sexy scent. The perfume itself is very alluring and needs to be used in small amounts as it is quite strong. Formulated by by Emilie Coppermann and Lucas Sieuzac under the direction of Givenchy’s ‘brand nose’ Francoise Donche, the scent is a great combination of different amazing notes. Top notes include bergamot, mandarin orange, bitter orange and grapefruit, while middles and base notes include Amyris wood, black pepper, coffee flower, vetiver and patchouli. I have to admit, I couldn’t resist when I smelled it so I bought it for myself; a decision you will not regret!!

PLAY is available for purchase beginning August 2009 and will cost you US $53 (1.7oz)-$71 (3.3oz) for Eau de Toilette and $57 (1.7oz)-$76 (3.3oz) for Eau de Toilette Intense.
