If like me you like secret agent 007, you’ll love the Vesper Martini. Invented and named by fictional character James Bond in the 1953 novel Casino Royale, the Vesper Martini is really a refreshing and excellent drink to have when you want to start off a great evening.

Quite easy to make and drink, amazingly for all the alcohol you add, this Martini doesn’t knock you out of your seat after a few. However, going out in different sophisticated cocktail bars and lounges, you’ll be ashamed to see that very few barmen know how to make it. Make sure you get the original recipe as Mr Bond best described it: “Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?”

Compared to regular martinis, the Vesper Martini is always shaken and not stirred. Have a look at the cocktail recipe below

The Vesper Martini cocktail recipe guide:
Ingredients
3 Parts of London dry Gin
1 Part of Vodka (better with grain-based vodka not potatoe-based vodka)
½ Part of Kina Lillet or Lillet Blanc
large thing slice of lemon peel

Preparation
Combine the different alcohols in an ice-filled shaker, and shake until icy cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a large, thin slice of lemon peel. Enjoy, rinse and repeat the drink…AH. Don’t forget to drink responsibly, as always…
