S.T. Dupont, the Parisian manufacturer of lighters, collectible pens, handbags, perfumes and leather goods – will supply pens to French fashion House Louis Vuitton as part of the French luxury brand’s fresh push into stationery to be unveiled in mid-December 2012, sources close to the matter said.

The move will put Louis Vuitton, owned by LVMH, the world’s biggest luxury group, against one of the market’s top luxury pen makers, Richemont’s Montblanc.

Indeed, Louis Vuitton, which made pens in the mid-1990s but phased them out, has big ambitions for its new collection, which will include alligator-skin fountain pens, customized stationery, bright inks, writing pads and Baccarat crystal ink wells. “This will be the biggest collection (of writing instruments) ever,” a source close to the brand said.
