British manufacturer of luxury cars – Aston Martin – unveils its latest supercar, the Vanquish. The Vanquish snags the flagship moniker from the DBS of James Bond fame, and borrows heavily from the spectacular One-77 coupe managing to look both beautifully taut and proportioned while also including numerous passive-aerodynamic details for improved performance.

Built on the latest version of Aston Martin’s VH (vertical horizontal) architecture, the car’s components make use of materials such as bonded aluminum and carbon-fibre, improving overall rigidity by 25% over the outgoing model and reducing weight. The supercar is powered by a significantly upgraded 6.0 litre V12 engine producing 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, which makes it almost the most powerful Aston Martin, just short of the limited edition One-77, on which much of the Vanquish is based. Its Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic gearbox is capable of 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and can reach a top speed of 183mph.

The Aston Martin Vanquish will be sold in two-seater or 2+2 seating configurations and will have increased leg and shoulder room. In terms of gadgets, the new car will have navigation, Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity, phone, and stereo systems all use in a 6.5-inch pop-up LCD screen. Aston Martin points out that it updated the cabin tech, and uses Garmin software for navigation. Continuing its relationship with Bang & Olufsen, Aston Martin fits the Vanquish with a 1,000-watt 15-speaker audio system. In the DBS, this system produced sublime sound quality, and should perform equally well in the Vanquish.

The new Aston Martin Vanquish goes on sale across North America early 2013 at a price of $280,000.
