In its seventh year of partnership with UNICEF, The House of Gucci is pleased to introduce a special edition “Gucci for UNICEF” Boston bag. Indeed, the luxury Italian fashion House Gucci will donate 25 percent of the retail price of each bag to support UNICEF’s “Schools for Africa” and “Schools for Asia” initiatives, which aim to provide access to quality basic education for millions of children. Over the past two years, the yearlong bags have generated more than 2 million USD for UNICEF. As an on-going commitment to the partnership, Creative Director Frida Giannini designed this new version of the House’s signature Boston handbag in luxurious micro Guccissima leather.
“For most children in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia, education represents the only way out of a life of entrenched poverty. We are grateful to Gucci for their ongoing commitment to UNICEF and their support in building a brighter future for these children,” says Leila Pakkala, Director of UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division.
The “Gucci for UNICEF” alabaster micro Guccissima Boston Bag in calfskin, features a double top handle, detachable shoulder strap and light gold hardware. The iconic interlocking GG, embossed onto the leather by the House’s Florentine artisans, recalls the initials of founder Guccio Gucci. Meanwhile the classic, functional shape makes for a timeless yet contemporary accessory.
The “Gucci for UNICEF” alabaster micro Guccissima Boston Bag will be available in Gucci stores worldwide and online on Gucci.com, from June 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013. Price is $1,520.
