Dealing with luxury travel, entertainment and lifestyle all the time, we know a thing or two about luxury ski resorts. Previously, we’ve made a list of the top 5 islands to visit in Europe and in the Caribbean; now we’ve compiled a list of the top 5 ski resorts in the world. The resorts on the Pure Entertainment Group a bespoke luxury concierge company – list of the top 5 ski resorts in the world span the globe, from Whistler/Blackcomb and Aspen to the beautiful French, Italian and Swiss Alps loved by everyone. Whether you’re looking for fun, world-class skiing or the best après-ski time with fine dining and great entertainment, set your sights on one of these top ski resorts because you’re sure to have an unforgettable vacation time. Each area listed here averages 360 inches of snow or more annually which means, essentially that you can’t go wrong! I was lucky enough to visit three of these locations. If you love skiing, enjoy…

Here is a list of some of the top 5 ski resorts in the world: (in no particular order)

Whistler/Blackcomb, Bristish Columbia – Canada

Home with Vancouver of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler Blackcomb is Canada’s premier ski resort. It is located in British Columbia around an hour and half from Vancouver and is also one of North America’s best ski destinations. Whistler boasts wide bowls, fresh powder pistes, off-piste skiing and incomparable views not to mention just about every other ingredient needed for a perfect skiing holiday in a winter wonderland: luxury hotels, world-class restaurants, fabulous shopping with international stores/boutiques, and amazing nightlife. Whistler Blackcomb has been consistently rated the top overall ski resort in North America. Now, do you need another reason to go visit?

Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado – USA

If you like to see and be seen, there is only one ski resort destination: Aspen, Colorado. Nestled at the top of the Roaring Fork river valley in Western Colorado, the town of Aspen sits beneath a panorama of more than 5,300 skiable acres over four mountains. Famous for its glitz, Aspen is without a doubt the home of the rich and famous as many celebrities have spent their winter vacations there. The village has lots of to offer aside from a great skiing experience: snowmobiling, hot air ballooning, art galleries and museums, luxury hotels and vacation rentals, designer boutiques, restaurants and of course nightlife. Indeed, Aspen is especially popular with non-skiers who are looking for all the frills and creature comforts to keep them busy all day – and night. Put Aspen on your bucket list.

Chamonix/Mont-Blanc – France

Skiing the Alps is one of the rights of passage for skiers around the world and where better to ski the Alps than at the foot of Mont-Blanc (the White Mountain). Chamonix Valley and the Mont Blanc massif combine to make the most popular ski resorts in France. That means there are plenty of runs for skiers of all abilities. The town is situated on the northwest side of the Alps; it’s the highest peak in the Alps and the second highest in Europe (top elevation 4,810 m/15,771 ft). At Chamonix, you’ll find upscale shopping districts, charming hotels and chalets, and great culinary experiences. But also world-class spas around town that offer luxurious treatments, sauna & Jacuzzi, and Steam baths. It’s definitely the best of both worlds! The holding of the first Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix in 1924 further raised Chamonix’s profile as an international tourist destination.

Gstaad, Switerland

Swiss ski resorts have a reputation for their beauty and charm, but also for the rich and famous who have spent their winter vacation there. Like Aspen, Gstaad is known for its luxury hotels and chalets, fabulous shopping with high end boutiques/stores, music festivals, fine dining, great nightlife, and international stars. Located on the western edge of the Bernese Oberland in the Alps, the resort town is the most elegant pearl in the larger ski region of Saanenland. I love Gstaad! It’s a fabulous ski resort destination in Europe.

Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy

Cortina D’Ampezzo is a town and comune in the southern (Dolomitic) Alps and the province of Belluno, Veneto, northern Italy. Located in the heart of the Dolomites in an alpine valley, it is one of Italy’s most popular ski resort destination known for its ski-ranges, outstanding scenery and majestic views over the Dolomites, luxury accommodations, shops and après-ski scene. Even when the town is crowded, the slopes are generally empty, because nearly three-quarters of the winter guests just come for the après-ski scene and the sunshine. The town hosted the 1956 Winter Olympics Games.

All of these fabulous ski resorts offer something for every traveler; whether you’re looking to hit the slopes or explore the exciting après-ski scene, you’ll be pleased.
