Following the introduction of the 718 Boxter, Porsche has once again revived the legendary 718 with the all-new Porsche 718 Cayman and Porsche 718 Cayman S. Committed to the tradition of Porsche, the luxury car manufacturer named their newest release after their iconic vehicle that set standards on the racetrack.
The mid-sized engine sports car is the Porsche 718 Boxter’s fixed-roofed sibling, and just like its brother, the 718 Cayman is lightweight, fast, and absolutely gorgeous. Thanks to its powerful engines and outstanding power-to-weight ratio, the original 718 had a top speed of up to 260 km/h and boasted impeccable maneuverability, allowing it to win countless races and a high rank in the minds of Porsche enthusiasts. With their new release, Porsche keeps the tradition alive by bringing back some the original 718’s top features.
In the same likeness as the 1957 718 with its flat-four engine, the new 718 model continues this tradition, stepping away from naturally aspiring six-cylinder units for newly developed flat-four engines developed by Porsche, taking a leap into the dynamic future of Porsche’s mid-engine Sports Cars. Keeping true to its motorsport origins in more than just its model name, the new Porsche 718 Cayman boasts improved brakes, firmer suspension, and wider tires.
To park a 718 Cayman in your driveway, you will have to spend at least $54,950, while upgrading to an S model will set you back $67,350. The car will hit U.S. dealerships in late November of 2016.
We can tell you more about the new Porsche 718 Cayman and Porsche 718 Cayman S, but action speaks louder than words. Take a look at the following video by Porsche and prepare to be blown away!
