At a glance, you might think this is one of the best-restored vintage Porsches on the road. In reality, it’s so much more than that. It’s the Singer Porsche 911 Targa, and it’s a classic Porsche built from the ground up. This isn’t a Porsche restored, it’s a Porsche re-imagined by Singer Vehicle Design.

The Singer Porsche 911 Targa is a fusion of different 911 influences from the 60s, 70s and 80s. What looks like a mid-70s Porsche is so much more, as each feature was crafted individually to suit this one vehicle. The classic body is brand new, with carbon fiber panels and a nickel “targa hoop” above the headrests. The engine is custom built too– a 4.0-liter V6 based on the Porsche 964 from the early 90s. In effect, Singer has Frankestein’d the best influences of the heyday 911’s into a single new vehicle with a Targa-style top.

The Singer Targa’s 4.0-liter V6 engine produces 390 horsepower, a ton of muscle when compared to the ultralight bodywork. Under the rear hood, the engine is a work of visual art like the rest of the vehicle. From brushed aluminum to polished steel to black metal elements, it comes straight out of the custom shop as a brand new build. While Singer hasn’t published performance specs on the Targa model, that’s beside the point. 0-60 performance and top speeds are details you want to figure out for yourself. Maybe once a weekend.

What enthusiasts will notice first about the Singer 911 Targa is its appearance. It is designed like the iconic Porsche 911’s of the 70’s and 80’s, from a time when Porsche was a close to perfection as one could get. These were some of the most memorable sports cars of the late 20th century. They were distinctive, they were powerful, they were stunning works of automotive sculpture. The Singer Targa is a faithful replication of this inspiration. Its features aren’t just designed to look and perform like the classic Porsches of the day; they’re designed to improve upon them.

The new Singer Porsche 911 Targa is a one-off build for one of Singer’s clients. If you want one of your own, it’ll take a hefty commission to get it done. Plan on spending several hundred thousand to get one of these beauties built for yourself.
